Paddling Strokes

Forward Stroke
This is the most basic stroke to propel your boat forward.

1.Put the paddle enters the water at the front of the boat.
2.Pull back toward to you hip.
3. Drawn out of the water and repeat on the other side.

Back Stroke
Help you to moves backward or come to a stop.

1. Put the paddle enter into the water behind you and drawn forward.
2.Several short backward strokes on either side can help you stop.

Sweep Stroke
The most basic turning stroke.
Forward sweep
1. Put the paddle enters the water at the front of the kayak
2. Drawn away from the boat and back toward the paddler in an arc.

Reverse sweep
1. Does the same thing like forward sweep, but in the reverse direction. 

Side Draw
Use to draw the boat directly to the left or right without moving forward or backward.

1.Put the paddle enters the water directly to the side of the paddler
2.Drawn back toward the boat.

You can repeat this stroke until you move to the side you want.

Low Brace
Braces are used to regain your balance to prevent capsize. 

1.Use the back face of the paddle pushing down against the surface of the water.

High Brace

The high brace looks almost identical to the low brace except that you are pushing down on the front face of the paddle.
